the family session
The first step is to get your family session on my calendar! Once we agree on an evening for your shoot, a Session Fee of $200 is due to hold your spot. The Session Fee covers my time and talent only.

After the Session Fee has been received, I will send you my exclusive Yvonne Min Family Session Planning Guide. This guide will help you prepare for your shoot and will cover what to wear, grooming tips, and how to deal with children who aren't having their best day.
Prepare for your shoot
My preference is to shoot the Golden Hour (about 1.5 to 2 hours before sunset) for that soft, golden light. If we get started too late, we won't have as much time before the sun has set. A typical shoot takes about an hour but sometimes we can shoot longer. Other times, kids might decide that we are finished early and we roll with it.
It's SESSION day!
Approximately two weeks after your photography session, I will send you a link to an online proofing gallery where you can view all of you final retouched images. A typical family session gallery has 30 unique images retouched by hand in both color and black & white.

If you have ordered any custom products, they will be delivered within approximately four weeks. If you have decided to purchase digital files, they will be available for download as soon as your invoice is paid in full.

Working with Jam Portraits, a collaboration with fellow photographer, Joe Gabbard, we photograph roughly 2,000 preschoolers in the spring and in the fall every year. We get 90 seconds to capture 7 great images. Trust me, I know all the tricks when working with little kids.
It's possible that I have a buying problem when it comes to photography equipment. But I can assure you that I am working with the very best equipment on the market and it DOES make a difference.

I pride myself on having excellent retouching skills. My goal is to keep my retouching fresh and natural so that none of my subjects look like plastic. You should all look like the very best version of yourselves in your final images.

I crave eye contact from my subjects and work hard to get a large variety of images in your gallery.

My favorite time of day to shoot is called the Golden Hour. This is the two hours before sunset when the light gets all soft and warm. Golden Hour light is a key component to my photographic images.

You are absolutely welcome to bring your pets to your shoot. I love dogs and feel the same about my miniature poodle, Shredder. Just keep in mind that summer heat is a thing and plan accordingly.
